Colorado Defeats Jets 5-2 in Game 3
Avs Take 2-1 Series Lead
Denver, CO (April 27, 2024) – The Colorado Avalanche opened their 2024 playoff campaign with a 5-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in Game 3 on Thursday night at Ball Arena. The Avs now hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Mikko Rantanen led the Avalanche with a goal and two assists, while Nathan MacKinnon and Valeri Nichushkin each added a goal and an assist. Bowen Byram and Devon Toews also scored for Colorado.
Connor Hellebuyck made 38 saves for the Jets, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Avalanche’s offensive outburst.
The Avs dominated the third period, scoring four goals in the final 10 minutes to put the game away. Rantanen netted the game-winner at 10:23, and MacKinnon followed with a power-play goal just over two minutes later.
Nichushkin made it 4-1 at 15:26, and Toews added an empty-netter with 1:17 remaining.
Game 4 of the series is scheduled for Saturday night in Denver.
