Chelsea and Pochettino Part Ways

After a Disappointing Season

Mauricio Pochettino has left his position as Chelsea head coach by mutual consent after less than 11 months in charge.

Pochettino was appointed as Chelsea head coach in January 2023, replacing Thomas Tuchel. He led the club to a third-place finish in the Premier League and won the League Cup, but was criticized for his team's inconsistent performances and lack of progress in the Champions League.

Chelsea finished the 2022/23 season in ninth place in the Premier League, 25 points behind champions Manchester City. They were also eliminated from the Champions League in the quarter-finals by Real Madrid.

Pochettino's departure from Chelsea brings an end to a disappointing season for the club. The Blues have not won a major trophy since the League Cup in 2015, and have not won the Premier League title since 2017.

It remains to be seen who will replace Pochettino as Chelsea head coach. The club is reportedly interested in appointing Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Chelsea's next match is against Manchester United on October 22. The Blues will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing start to the season and climb up the Premier League table.
